Engineered for cold water and harsh wind exposure, this 3mm reversible neoprene hood is designed to help reduce the risk of surfer's ear while maintaining a secure, low-profile fit. Built with blind-stitched construction and reinforced seam taping, it delivers lasting comfort, warmth, and durability in demanding conditions.
Strategically placed hearing ports improve awareness in the water without allowing water to pass directly through the neoprene. Like all neoprene hoods, however, some water may enter around the face and neck during duck dives and falls - this is a normal characteristic of wetsuit-style hoods and cannot be completely eliminated.
The hood's primary purpose is to shield your ears from cold wind, a major contributing factor to surfer's ear (exostosis), while insulating and warming any water that does enter, just as a wetsuit does. For surfers with particularly sensitive ears or those seeking maximum protection, we recommend pairing the hood with quality ear plugs.
SIZING
These caps run small. If you normally wear a Medium for example, we recommend sizing up to a Large. If you're between sizes or unsure, choose the next size up for the best fit. Alternatively follow this guide.
